What the Heck Are the Maldives?

Greetings from... Denver! We have finally returned home from the island of oddity that is Hong Kong, but there's still one more trip to blog about. For the penultimate week in Asia, we took a trip to the Maldives, a cluster of tiny islands just south of India. However, we don't have much to report this time, because we actually RELAXED on our vacation. What, no temples? What's gotten into Mom?

We flew to Male, the capital of the Maldives, and then took a seaplane to our island. This is a view from the window of our barefoot crew member.

These tiny, pale sharks were everywhere!

Who needs the deep ocean to snorkel?

This guy kept showing up on our island. We called him "Jar Jar Bird".

We went on a tour to spot dolphins. In the lower right-hand corner, you can see dolphins opening their mouths for air.

This (totally untrained!) dolphin leapt out of the water three times, spinning rapidly each time. It is unknown why they do this trick- maybe it's just for fun!

At night, the darkness prompts the bridge lights to turn on. The lights attract plankton. Then, the plankton attract... manta rays!

These guys were startlingly large. They were probably about five feet in length- as long as I am tall!

Me on a stand-up paddleboard.

Chilling out by the pool.

The blog is going to be slow for a while- yes, even slower than it has been recently (sorry about that)- since we don't have any big trips in the pipeline. We'll probably go somewhere for spring break and, of course, summer, but I can't promise much more.

I hope you enjoyed our Hong Kong saga. Thanks for reading!
