Skyscraper Meadows

Welcome again, fellow Hong-Kongers! Today I would like to highlight the differences between the North and South of Hong Kong Island. There is also a mainland portion- we went there for dinner last night- but other that the occasional visit, we are ignoring that area.

The difference between the two sides is stunning. The north is coated in buildings, but the south (where we live) is, as I said before, a serene beach paradise. These photos say it all.

VS.

Stranger still is the way that seeds of one half can carry on the wind and lodge themselves in the other half. For instance, small pockets of the beach can pop up in the city- we saw some tropical trees planted in an extremely uncommon grassy area. The opposite can happen as well. Our room is controlled by a touch-sensitive hub panel by the door and an iPad.

This hub controls everything from lights to air conditioning to curtains.

So, there you have it. Goodbye from Skyscraper Meadows.

Dad Sez

Welcome to the first edition of Dad Sez! In this section, I post my father's, um,  profound remarks on Hong Kong.

I like the picture below (courtesy of Dad) because it represents the heat and humidity displayed here, as well as the copious amount of TV remotes that we have- six in total, plus the remote for Apple TV.

And now for a quote:

"Hong Kong is the only place in the world where you can buy 'Tiffany's' earrings and then go next door and buy a goat head."

Fun Hong Kong Facts!

Today's Hong Kong fact is…

Hong Kong is made up of one mainland portion, one main island, and 262 lesser islands!

I hope you enjoyed it. Come back next time for more Hong Kongage.

Bonus!

Yes, there's another bonus section. Bear with me. Anyway, remember last issue when I mentioned how astonishingly hilly this place is? I meant it. Now I have proof- see for yourself.

The buildings here are built right up against the hills.

Next up: Escape to Cambodia!
